Born in Perth, Australia to Dutch parents and raised in Richmond, BC, Kathy is a horticulture addict of longstanding. Besides her scholarship in agricultural studies at the University of British Columbia, Kathy has a diploma in Landscape Horticulture from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, BC. 

As part of the Sunnyside Nurseries Ltd. family, over the years Kathy has been a valuable resource in the growth of the business. She also hosted and produced her own television show "Gardening Tips" which aired on Delta Cable for over a decade starting in 1987. Kathy has also been a featured guest on various local radio stations.

Many garden clubs, libraries, church societies and garden venues such as VanDusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver, BC have invited Kathy as their key note speaker. Most recently at the Sunshine Coast Garden Club in Sechelt (November 27, 2017) and St. Monica’s Guild at Sacred Heart Church in Ladner, BC (April 9, 2018).

Landscaping plans and installation for  The Waterford and Kin Village Senior Residences in Delta BC as well as a design commission for GVRD at Boundary Bay. The Lions Club had been the invaluable volunteers for the Kin Village and Boundary Bay Cammidge House.

The also known as Coast Magazines, has provided Kathy a monthly outlet for educating readers about a variety of current garden related information.
Kathy is co-author of the invaluable homeowners guide to gardening titled ¨Simply Gardening¨. Available for sale at Sunnyside Nurseries Ltd. and Albany Books.
